Lecture and Panel Discussion: Commemorating the 86th Anniversary of the German Invasion of Poland
On the occasion of the memorial event on September 1, 2025, a lecture and subsequent panel discussion were held at the Pilecki Institute in Berlin. Guests were welcomed by Dr. Joanna Kiliszek, Head of the Berlin branch of the Pilecki Institute, and Robert Parzer, Head of the German-Polish House in Berlin.
PD Dr. John Zimmermann (Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr, Potsdam) delivered a lecture titled: "No Auschwitz Without a Wehrmacht Victory – The German Invasion of Poland as the Prelude to a War of Annihilation." Following the lecture, PD Dr. Colonel John Zimmermann, Prof. Dr. Martin Aust (University of Bonn), and Prof. Jerzy Piotr Kochanowski (University of Warsaw) discussed the German invasion of Poland and its impact on the relationship between the two countries.
